In 2024, my life was changed irreparably when I lost my wife after a four-year battle with cancer. Out of the ashes of that loss, my YouTube channel, Riding Through Grief, was born. Through it, I chronicle my journey through deep sorrow, relentless despair, and ultimately, the gradual emergence of hope and love for a future I once thought was lost. I share every aspect of my experience—the joyous, the painful, and everything in between—using podcasts, vlogs, motorcycling adventures, music, and photography as my mediums.

S0, what’s this about?
I launched my YouTube channel as a sanctuary for my story—an honest space where I could share my journey in the hope that it might help others. Along the way, I connected with Gordon Bissell, a friend who reached out after discovering the channel. Through mutual support during some of our most challenging moments, our bond has grown into one of steadfast friendship and understanding.
Life took an unexpected turn in late 2024 when Charlotte reentered my world—a person I first encountered in 2005 when we were on the verge of something more. Though circumstances had pulled us in different directions—Charlotte pursuing a new life and business in Sweden while I was grappling with the devastating diagnosis in 2022 and the eventual loss of my wife, Sarah, in early 2024—our reconnection was nothing short of serendipitous. Losing Sarah not only shattered my heart but also left me facing the harsh reality that our shared dreams had vanished, compounded by the emotional and financial uncertainty of her not having life insurance. In my darkest moments, when I questioned whether I could carry on without the light she brought to my life, Charlotte became a compassionate guide, offering counsel and comfort when I needed it most.
Over the ensuing months, our connection deepened through countless heartfelt conversations. Despite the distance and life’s unpredictable twists, Charlotte’s visit at the end of last year affirmed the authenticity of our bond. Now, as of February 2025, I’m honoured to call her a part of my daily life here in Scotland. With her grace, empathy, and unwavering support, we honour the memory of Sarah while gently building a hopeful future—a future I once thought was beyond my reach.
